What is St. Andrew’s Lighthouse?

St. Andrew's Lighthouse, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization  located in Jacksonville, Florida.   We manage hospital hospitality homes for adult patients and their caregivers.  Our homes provide temporary housing and compassionate support to guests traveling to Jacksonville area medical facilities for specialized medical treatments.  Treatments include organ tranplantation, cancer, neurology, orthopedic surgery, medical evaluation and many other medical procedures.

What are the qualifications for services?

A referral is required from the patient’s local hospital social services department where the initial eligibility screening is completed. Referrals are accepted and processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Anyone under the age of 18 is required to be accompanied by an adult, and children under the age of 16 are not eligible to stay at the house.

Is there any cost to stay?

Yes. Guests are asked to contribute $30 for the first night and $25 for each additional night, per room.

How long can I stay?

The length of stay for guests will vary depending on the patient’s treatment plan. In order to provide a program that is as accessible to as many people as possible, guest stays are limited to sixty (60) days.

Are meals provided?

No. Meals are not provided, but guests can use the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare meals on their own. Coffee, tea, condiments, canned goods and snacks are provided free of charge.

Is transportation provided?

No. Transportation is not provided at this time.

What medical facilities do the homes serve?

The majority of Lighthouse guests are patients at the Mayo Clinic but other facilities served include Baptist Medical Center, Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, University of Florida Proton Therapy Center, and Specialty Hospital.
